Great pics were you near Battle Creek?

wcc 10-09-2006 03:45 AM

That was a good run! It was lots of fun. Too bad you picked up that 5th gear issue.

We weren't around Battle Creek, but more towards Pickney (N. of Det) and Waterloo (Near Jackson).

I have some pics I'll post here later. They are on my home computer.

This is Motor-Stadt:

It's basically the Lansing Area Region of the PCA.

I lived in East Lansing and Lansing from 1980 to 1983. I used to ride out to Laingsburg on my 1978 Honda Hawk all the time. It would be nice to revist those roads in a Porsche.

I'll bookmark that link, thanks.

Hi George,
It was a great drive with these guys. We only had about 8 cars so it was "easy" to keep up. I say " easy" because I had that silver GT3 in my rear view on the first stint, in front of me on the second. (Yeah, it runs pretty good.) The roads were excellent for Porsches. While the speeds were probably not over the limit, the roads are very challenging. I got a little loose in one 90 degree bend that gave me a chill. Cool!!!

We even went by the prison in Jackson. I wonder if any of the other guys honked at the inmates out doing yardwork under armed guard?

We have 32 people signed up for the RSR event. This typicaly means we will get seperated into three groups plus a couple "go it alone" strays. It's bound to happen, even without any traffic.

I won't be attending this year. The 5th gear problem probably won't be fixed in time. I have been scouting roads up by me to do a run next year with the club.

Hey MI Guys,

I am organizing a Midwest Long Hood 911 gathering in your fine State the weekend of 10/20-22. We will be based out of Stevensville in SW MI, near the lakeshore. On Saturday we are going to blast over to the Gilmore musuem near Kalamazoo. If any of you guys are in the area you are welcome to join us.

If anyone is interested I can provide details. Thanks.

wcc 10-09-2006 08:35 AM

Sure you can send me the details. Maybe I could meet you over at the museum.

ChemMan 10-09-2006 09:43 AM

Sorry I missed you guys. Looks like you had a good time. I ended up in Lansing yesterday anyway visiting a buddy.

Mike

wcc 10-09-2006 09:44 AM

Mike - Are you going to make it this weekend (15th)?

ChemMan 10-09-2006 09:54 AM

Bill,
Is the 15th at your house or the color tour? I am trying to make it over to get your engine back in, but I cant do the color tour.

Wayne,
What happened to your 5th gear?

Mike

wcc 10-09-2006 10:00 AM

14th (Sat) - My house for engine installation. Cool! Hopefully you can make it for a few hours anyways.

15th (Sun) - Color Cruise. That's too bad you can't make it. Maybe next time.

Wayne can fill you in but here is the thread on his 5th gear:

I may be interested if you'll tolerate other models.;)

I should have the '70 targa by then but's it's many months and dollars away from moving under it's own power, if it ever does. I'd love to tag along in my 944S though to check out some of the longhoods and take some pics. You can PM me the details.

Looks like you guys had a great drive together.:)

Does anyone know of any nice rural, twisty roads from Kalamazoo to the southwest corner of the state? Thanks.

vanwyk4257 10-09-2006 07:44 PM

Brian,
I'll do some checking, I have a friend that lives in Battle Creek, not too far from K-zoo. Otherwise, if that fails, I can always pull out the atlas and take a look at that.

kach22i 10-10-2006 05:56 AM

wcc , great photos, look like Panorama covers. You should e-mail them to PCA and see what they think.:)

wcc 10-10-2006 06:32 AM

Gotta give the wife credit. She was snapping the pics as I was driving. I thought she did a nice job too!
