Wheel sizes, exhaust questions
Just got the new baby home (bought from Bez, who bought it from 911nut, so it has stayed in the Pelican family).
It is an 82 SC, but it has 9 X 16's rear and 7 x 16's front. This costs me a couple penalty points with the local PCA'ers. (1 point for every inch on oversize wheels, the fronts are OK, the rears cost me 2 points). So, should I even CONSIDER swapping the 9's for 8's, or is that sacrilegious? And, what are the relative value's of each wheel? 9's more $$ then 8's, or vice versa? Would going back to 6's on the front help with camber adjustment, etc? Car used for DE, auto cross, and Sunday drives to Taos for ice-cream. Plus, my 6 year old LOVES going for rides, almost more then me. I REALLY like the look of the 9s. My significant other says this car says (along with it's throaty blat) "get the h%$# out of my way!" Exhaust: Above throaty blat comes because cat was removed and muffler baffles tweaked, shall we say. I must put a cat in for smog. Does the Dansk cat breathe more freely then say an older stock cat that has been worn out but looks right? I have no doubt the car will pass the emissions part. Want to retain as much of the cool sound as possible. Thanks Scott |
