One of the wires from the coil should go to your points.

edit: Cd box, not coil

Donnie,
I've got a wiring diagram down at Stratton's and it's back in Jaysons engine area. Just drop by and pick up the book.
And check out the widebody 72 Targa that's for a friend that lives back in Colorado. The rear bumper is another Gary original!!

I don't see any white wires on the wiring diagram. You have black to ground, which in a Porsche is usually power. But color doesn't matter as long as each end terminates properly. Use an ohm meter and wring out the wires to verify they all land where they should according to the wiring diagram. Verify your points are opening and closing when they should. Put a timing light on the center wire at the dizzy to see if power is getting there. If you do all the above and still no worky, I'd say the CD box is bad. Replace with a known good one and see if it works. I am thinking you have it wired wrong or your points aren't setup right.

Brian,

Terminal "D" from the CD box is two whites, one hard wired to the coil plug, one to the dizzy(in the first pic). I think I may have fried my coil, I cranked it with the wire to the dizzy open, but will test more later today. I can't get my remote start to work either, Just one of those weeks.(red terminal to yellow on the solonoid), but the car cranks with the key.

Donnie,
Let's break this down into smaller bite size pieces.

Notice the first pic shows the connections to the CDI box.
Pin A is the output of the CDI box goes to terminal 15 of the coil.
Pin B is the 12 volt input to the CDI box.
Pin C is the input to the CDI box from the distributor points.
D which is on the side of the CDI box is ground.
Now back to the second pic.
Terminal 15 on the coil is the wire from Pin A on the CDI box.
Terminal 1 on the coil goes to ground. Where ever the ground is.
On the distributor you show two wires.
One goes to pin C on the CDI box.
The other wire goes to the Tach.
I would determine the wire that goes to the tach and disconnect it until you get the motor running.
Once you have determined that all the wires are going where they are supposed to go then:
Remove both wires from the distributor and check the terminal at the distributor.
You should read ground if the points are closed and open if the points are open.
This is the signal to the CDI box pin C.
If you don't read ground and open at the distributor as the points open and close, the wire to the points is either grounded or not connected.
If the distributor checks out, check the wire from the distributor to pin C. This is a shielded wire. The outside is the woven shield and goes to ground. The inside is the wire to Pin C and the distributor points.
Next check the output from the CDI unit to the coil.
Pin A to terminal 15 of the coil. Use an ohm-meter to make sure the wire is good.
No other wires on terminal 15 of the coil.
Terminal 1 of the coil, the other small one goes to ground. Make sure you read ground at this terminal.
Remember remove the tach wire at the distributor until you get the motor running. It could be grounded somewhere and causing your problem.
Once you have checked the above you are going to find either a broken wire or a continuos ground at the distributor.

Donnie,
On your Cd box isn't ther a male connector between the triple harness and the outer clip? It doesn't appear in your picture to have any connection. Just a thought.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads8/IMG_19871159825195.jpg

lusso, it is the ground, there are two spades.

MY CD is shot. All wires good and where they should go, coil test same as new MSD coil. With ignition on, cd box whines, but no output to terminal 15. Points test good, null/ground;

Replace with MSD 6al at this point?

Thanks for the help.

You can bring your CD box over to my place and we'll put it in my car to see if it works. Let me know soon because I am pretty swamped this weekend.
