Fuel Pump Relay?

I have an 84 Carrera which had been 100% strong until this morning.....

When opening the drivers door there is a "ticking" sound as if the directionals where engaged - this goes on for several seconds and then stops.

When I try to turn the car over it fires strong but does not start - I just drove it last night and it has not been in the damp.

Any ideas?

"fires strong but does not start"
What do you mean by: fires strong?

Ticking sound: Do you have an alarm system that was partially disabled?

If it's an older alarm, think seriously about disconnecting the whole thing.
I had an old Clifford that worked fine but I didn't want to be stranded one day, so, I disabled the function for pump and starter.
Now it still blinks like an alarm but cannot screw up.
To prevent theft, just take the pump relay out when parking overnight.

It's the original factory fitted alarm; the issue was that the alarm was really still on but the horn was not sounding when the door opened - hence the ticking.

I have thought if upgrading the alarm but the quirky key seems to be just fine

Good idea on the relay though, very effective way to prevent them getting too far....any thief travelling with a fuel pump relay deserves to get away with it.........
