Alt/volt reg 911SC

The bearing on my alternator failed so I replace the Paris-Rhone alternator with a remanufactured Valeo unit.

After installing the alternator I forget to tighten down the neg battery terminal. It's on the post just not tight.

Took the car for a spin and the loose battery terminal is hopping up and down, I realized what I forgot quickly as it was at night and my headlights were going on and off.

Pull back in the driveway, tighten down the terminal and head back out. All is well for about 5 minutes.

Now I have the bouncing tach, flickering headlamps etc....

It was late and I was tired so I have not yet put a meter across the battery to see what's going on but I'm wondering what could have happened.

Could that loose terminal have killed my voltage reg?
Are they that sensitive?
Maybe I just got a crummy reman? I thinking this is the case.

Anyone know if the ParisRhone voltage reg can be installed in a Valeo?
