Oil Viscosity
Hello All
I recently had a Quality Shop (VERY familiar with 911s) do some work on my 1983 SC. They replaced several oil lines and also regreased the number eight bearing. I replaced the lower valve covers. The oil leaks from the valve covers seem to be gone. However there are still leaks coming from what I fear to be where the Case comes together. (Actually these appear to be new leaks) The leaks occur only when the motor is hot/warm My question. Would switching to a more viscous oil slow down the leaks? Is that even a good Idea? What oil viscosity would be recommended? Of course The temptation to put in the stop leak is very great but I have not done so under recommendations from this fourm Thanks Gang

what oil are you using??
I would not put synthetic oil in that motor but would stick with a good 20/50 for summer and maybe a 10/40 for winter |

No I am not using Synthetic. I believe the weight is either 10/40 or 10/50.
Is there something THICKER which may help I wonder

My '71 leaked less (both while parked and driving) when I switched from 15W40 to 20W50. Similar experience with aircooled Beetles.
