Problems with Pelican??

Is anyone else having problems?

I wasn't able to load the forum or the main site www.pelicanparts.com for several minutes and I've had similar problems off and on this morning. Since it's both sites, I wonder if it's a connectivity problem or server problem or something else.

I don't think I have to tell most of you how distressing it is to click the link for my homepage and see "server cannot be found". Yes, forums.pelicanparts.com is set as my home page. Sad, I know.

yes, a couple days now. Even with google-analytics add blocked in firefox addblock extension
all these info gathering services are BS.
it isn't analytics as the cause, but does cause the hangs.

Cool, thanks, I just downloaded the "adblock" extension and added google-analytics and googlesyndication. I have to do that at home now too.

Hah, now I'm downloading Adblock plus and "Adblock Filterset.G Updater 0.3.0.4" which automatically downloads the common annoying crap and updates adblock for you.

I had probs this morning as well. Seems to be better now.

Can the addblock extension be implemented without me purposely installing? I haven't been able to connect to Google for a month now...and I simply can't figure out the prob.

It's actually "adblock" and no, it's an extension that you download from here https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/extensions/

My first guess would be that you've been hijacked.

I've researched for many, many hours. I've checked the HOSTs file (but IIRC that controls IE not Firefox), firewall, virus software, scanned for worms/viruses/trojans etc, don't have Google toolbar or desktop. BTW, this is a home PC.

This one has be stumped.

When you try to go to google, what happens?
Does it happen in Firefox and IE?
Do you eventually get an error message?
Which message?
What does the status bar of the browser say while it's trying to load?

What about video.google.com?

No problems that I've seen lately. I'm on the forums more than anyone else, and it's been super-fast every time I've been on it. I've been working on it continuously whenever I see a slowdown to try to improve performance. I'll keep a close eye on it - maybe it was a connection / Internet problem with the backbone this morning? If the forums is down *and* the main site is down, then it's typically a connection problem. If www.pelicanparts.com is up and forums.pelicanparts.com is missing, then it's typically something awry with the actual server...

Wayne - don't you take it down for maint. or tuning or something late at night sometimes?

Maybe that is waht he 'saw'?

And, shouldn't it be "Night-Owl Parts"?
