NGK plug gap

I just bought some NGK BP6-ES plugs on the recommendation of several posts here for my MFI 2.4. Firstly I hope they're ok, and secondly want to know the correct gap. The gap they come with is huge (didn't measure it but it's a lot bigger than factory specs for the bosch plug. Are these pre gapped and supposed to be left like that or should I wack them back to something sensible? Sorry to sound like Home workshop 101. I've just been reading up on race car ignition setups and plug gap re CD ignitions and they (Ron Wood) say all sorts of interesting but conflicting info, like bigger gap/more power (good) and bigger gap more crosfiring (bad).
I am in the unusual situation of wanting as much power as possible with the least side effects..
Thanks

I've been running a gap of .060 in my 86 Carrera for a decade and have not had any problems with crossfire or any other adverse effects.

I wonder what others have tried and if this is some kind of record. I know how paranoid people get when it comes to the mysterious science of plug gaps, so I doubt you would find too many out there who have gapped there plugs other than stock.

Cheers,

Joe Garcia

Thanks Joe. Did you gap them like that for a reason or just to see what would happen? And did you notice any change? Apparently the HP gains arn't huge, but I wonder how it affects day to day running: idle for example and economy. Anything would be better than 15 mpg from a little lightweight sports car!
