battery to starter cable routing path 83' SC

Looks like I may need to change the 10gage positive cable from the battery ending at the starter.

Could someone show me the path it goes through the car?
How much will I have to rip this car apart?

Thanks

Vin,

I would suggest looking at every venue to not replace it, it's expensive and a PITA to replace.

But if you must replace, it runs through the tunnel on the "secret" compartment by the passenger seat. You'll be able to see this compartment from the rear of the car by the linkage cover. Tie a strong string to a fish-stape and run to the back. Tie the string to the cable and wrap it with duct-tape, make it as strong as possible and slim as possible. Get some general purpose grease and cover the positive cable with a thin coat, then pull the string from the other side.... good luck

Thanks Fernando

I don't want to do this job unless I really have to. I will mess with the cable from Alternator to starter first. This one is easy so maybe I will get lucky.

I have an intermittent problem with the battery losing charge. Here's the thread

If only for testing purposes...why not jury-rig an "external" path from point "A" to point "B"....to first prove to yourself that this is the problem. If it seems to solve the problem, THEN you can tackle the "proper" routing issue.....

Turned out there was something wrong with the alternator I bought. Once it got hot it stopped charging.

Happy to not have to swap that cable
