New plates for my 89

Been waiting for these quite some time. I called the DMV last month and they told me the "Manufacturing Facility" was down, some trouble there. I asked, isn't that a prison? Yes, she answered, the boys were bad and it had been in lock down.
Anyway, just a month late but I like them.

Cool, so what is the significance of 615? Probably obvious, but I'm not too bright.

How much does CA charge for vanity plates? Here in CT they want $90!!!!! How did you find out what number your Targa was? I know that for my model year they imported only 1430 of them. My car was built in Oct. of 1982

This selection was $41 but there are other plates that cost more.
My number, ID number, is on the door, it is K ------0615, November of 88. There were 860 made that year so I ASSUMED, may be wrong, but I think I have the 615 of 860.
It is my first Porsche so I have lots to learn. Even so, it is an 89 and no body else had this number for their plates.

I just ordered CA personal plate "1976S"...which of course is what my car year and model is. I was shocked it was available really.

Ive had a California blue plate replica made to match....wonder what I'm going to do with that, hmmmm?

I'll add to this post or post one of my own when I finally pick up my plates at the DMV in another couple of weeks.

Dan, I hope the "Manufacturing Facility" is working OK, it took me more than three months to get mine.

I ordered mine about August 15th and the CA DMV website says "8-12 weeks". So, I still have sometime before I start to get too concerned. 3 months would put you at the outer edge of the "normal" production time. Hope the "boys" up at Pelican Bay or wherever they make these things behave themselves long enough to get mine done.

As a side note my son called me yesterday to tell me he saw a CA plate that said, "I KNOW HA" this was in Anaheim. Guess you gotta know the George Lopez routine to apprecaite how funny it is.
