Removal/Installation of windshield wipers...
Alright guys and gals, here's a newbie question for you all. I've owned my '76 911 (first Porsche) since October '99 and don't have the damnedest idea how to change my wiper blades. I bought the silicone ones from Automotion(lifetime warranty SilBlades) a while..a long while ago. Anyone has any experience with those? Right now my 911 has a "single wiper conversion"...one of them flew off (it was not OEM) while I was driving...good thing it wasn't raining too hard. I got home and took off the wiper arm. Anyway, please help! Thanks!

Jeff,
I'm not sure I understand your problem. Still, The end of the wuper arm is bend backwards to form a big U. The blades come with several adapters to fit in the U, with small tabs that snap into place when you slide them onto the arms. At least the Bosch units I use. It's hard to explain without the pieces, but once you have the right stuff, you understand easily. The wiper arm goes into the blade and then is pulled "into" the plastic channel of the blade. Hope this sheds some light, George |

Sorry George for the confusion. I had one wiper that was "secured" to the wiper arm via metal wire, other one looks OEM. That "secured" one flew off when I was driving one day. The problem is this. I can't figure out how the wiper blade comes off. At least not yet. Maybe I should take a closer look and spend longer time staring at it. Nonetheless, I bought those lifetime silicone wiper blades (SilBlades) from Automotion a long time ago and can't figure out how to get it on. Does anyone have experience with these blades? Maybe I should just stick with OEM, huh? Thanks!

In the U arm, you will find a small square aperture, in which there is a small plastic tab. You must push on that tab to slide the wiper off. George
