Cruise Control Amplifier

Does anyone have or could anyone send me a picture of the cruise amplifier? My cruise still doesn't work, and I was going to evaluate the amp as the next step. I've heard that it is a silver box under the radio, but I don't have any such box there in my 82, and I don't see any obvious connectors left hanging by the PO either.

Thanks in advance,

Olivier

I have an '82 sc and the cruise control is actually in the from trunk right next to the fresh air fan. You need to unsnap the carpet and take of the carboard cover behind that. When I got my car a year ago the cruise didn't work either. I was doing something with the fan and had to take the cruise out to get in there. When I was done the cruise started to work. Basically all I did was unplug and plug it back in. I guess there was just a loose connection in my case. Maybe your's will be just as simple. Good luck.

Mine also looses speed slowly. Sometimes. I'd like to know how to fix it rather than sending it in to have it repaired for $125 or so. I'm guessing that the fix would be simple, if I just knew what it is.

The cruise amplifier is just where retnug said. It is about directly in front of the speedometer, to the side fo the brake master cylinder. It's about the size and shape of a pack of cigarettes on steroids. Really easy to get at, once the carpet and the cardboard thing are removed.

I trust you repaired your cable. Hope my delay in measuring mine did not hold you up.

I think I got the cable repaired, but the amplifier might be preventing me from testing it. I found it, cleaned the connections, and reconnected it. Hopefully the system will work tomorrow when I get a chance to test it.

Thanks again.
