Who has powder coated Targa bar cover?
Went to a shop today to inquire about having my Targa bar cover powder coated. I was quoted $65.
My question is about the type of finish, I was looking for a satin finish, nothing real shiny, but the guy showed me a wrinkle finish and It looked real good. Has anyone done this, and if so what type of finish did you use. The wrinkle looked like a good match for vinyl on the top.

Hey..
I have a '73 911T Targa with targa bar and all trim black powder coated by previous owner about 12 years ago. I have owned the car for about 10 years and all still looks fresh. It looks good on my car and I have been satisfied. It has a satin finish. I don't think I would like a wrinkle finish, it would hold a lot of dust, etc. and be hard to clean. See gallery for pics of my car. Good luck. amarillo73

Nice looking Targa, amarillo73.
I'm reconsidering the wrinkle finish for the reason you stated. The powder coater said he had a semi gloss finish which may be acceptable. I ordered the rear targa bar seal last night, and will probably start removing the cover today. Gotta get this car looking good for my trip to the "Tail of the Dragon" in about 3 weeks.

Look for a thread by ianc. He had his powdercoated and took a photo. I did mine as well but don't have a handy photo. It came out real well. BUT, BUT, BUT. Ask the people doing the work to be super super careful in media blasting the old paint. The aluminum is very thin and if they hit it too hard, it will bend the metal bar. (Ask me how I know). Mine sort of looks like it has a bit of orange peel (which is how I think they came from the factory). I like it.
Be careful with the studs as well. I took off the nuts and gently tapped with a block of wood to free them up. Remember there are a bunch of screws under the seal (one under each side on the door seal). You may have to dremel a notch to get a couple of them out. A small ratching screwdriver gave me the torque I needed in a couple of cases.
