I know it doesnt' belong here ,, HELP
 

but I trust you guys.. So here's my problem, I can't get the rotors off the front wheel of my 98 Tahoe. I've heated, and hit them with a 3 lb sledge ( and I mean REALLY heated and REALLY pounded them). Any suggestions?? Help!!! I'm sure you guys work on your SUV's as well.

Did you check to see if there are any screws that hold the rotor in place?

There certainly aren't any on the replacement rotors and I can't find any on the ones on the truck.. ..

a lot of rotors get rusted onto the center of the hub, and you have to beat the crap out of them with a heavy mallet, or giant no-bounce rubber hammer.

Been a long time ago....Is'nt there a big axle nut on the Chevy hub? You got that off right and the caliper?

Well the rotor just fits right over it, Yes there is an axial nut but that would hold the whole bearing etc..
John, I had both my map and propane torch on at the same time,, left them there for about 15 minutes.. Beat the rotor with a 3 lb sledge unitl the rotor started breaking off in pieces..

I just had the same problem on my friends Chevy 1500 pick-up, which I assume is quite similar. What you need to do is drill a bunch of holes where the rotor meets the hub. Try to just drill the rotor but if you nick the hub it's no big deal. I drill about 6, then use a really large flywheel puller, although a large hammer would suffice. If you have a giant wheel puller it is nice to use, though.

If the rotor is really rusted on there, the wheel puller *won't* be able to get it off, it will just bend. Believe me, I tweeked mine and it is extremely robust. After the holes it came off w/ almost no effort.

A good sharp drill anywhere from 3/16" to about 1/4" is what I use. In case I wasn't clear, the holes should be about 90% in the rotor but the edge of the hole should touch the hub, to help relieve the pressure.

Ok, here's the update,, drilled the holes ( like a dozen) no help..
Finally, drilled three holes thru the rotors ( there are three spots without backing on the hub).. PUt bolts from the back into them, drilled three holes in a ten lb plate from a weight set and put the bolts thru this too ( making an impromptu gear puller against the wheel lugs). Then with a propane torch, map torch, 3lb sledge and the three bolts tightened as hard as I can.. If FINALLY broke lose..
