O2 Sensor Unhooked Question
I installed a GHL CAT Bypass pipe and hooked up my O2 sensor. I removed the working O2 sensor from the old CAT and installed it in the GHL. So I was out driving today and the car was bucking like crazy at low RPM. Then is smoothed out around 3-4k RPM. So I unhooked the sensor and everything smoothed out. The car runs fantastic and feels very quick.
So my questions are: Can I leave it unhooked without ill effects? Or did the sensor go bad all of a sudden? Is there a way to test the old one before going out and spending a $100 bucks? |
The car will have to "relearn" it's new exhaust. It is also common for 02 sensors to fail after removal.
Get a scan tool that has Data stream, and see exactly what the car is doing. |
Can I run with it unhooked for a while till I get this one tested or replaced? That shouldn't cause any damage should it?

Thanks for the reply Kurt. I didn't know that removing an O2 sensor can ruin it. It sure did, cause I just put a new one on and it works fine now.
