Lightbulb Anyone Lower Their Steering Column?

After doing a search and pretty much figuing out how to disconnect the ignition switch column lock I will procede to ask my question.

Has anyone sucessfully lowered the steering column angle?

After lowering the seat mounts on the SC track car the steering wheel is too high for comfort. I feel as though I am either driving a bus or driving in a NASCAR event.

I am using a Smart Racing steering wheel disconnect and horn kit, which spaces out th wheel about 11/2"

I thought that using longer bolts and spacers to drop the steering column mounting bracket from the dash should work, as long as the column lock is disconnected.

So, has anyone done this mod?

Thanks in advance!

Well, back to top 1 last time. I guess a post that's not about a car's color or name just does not get any attention.

Oh well, I guess I'll go it alone.

No, hang in there. There was a thread about this very thing. Use my name in a search to narrow it down, because I posted in it. It might have been in the racing forum.

Here it is: Steering wheel lowering or tilting - 911SC
Took me about 12 different seach word combos. Buy me a Coke some day, I don't work for free.

Thanks Milt. I'll do the search thing again, although I did not see a post that stated whether or not someone has actually done this mod.

Thanks again, now I feel better.

Talk to Rich Walton at SmartRacing products. He may have some experience with this.
