Fake Fuchs vs. Track
Here is why you should never run fake Fuchs on your car if you track it:

I saw that over in the for sale board and thought of posting it as well. That was just a hair away from major disaster.

now I'm worried....I use fake Fuchs on the track...what brand are those?
When I look at the cross sections they seem to be extremely beefy...the wheels I have have been on three different 3.2 cars AX and track.

Looking beefy may not be enough. The construction process of the wheels is what makes the difference.
More than likely they were cast as opposed to forged like the factory wheels. If it were me I would find some other wheels for the track.

if you need cheap(er) track wheels - then I would recommend the bbs wheels - strong - and lighter in most cases - and if you find some nice 80's bling gold ones - usually pretty cheap.

I recently removed a cast Fuchs copy from a street car because it was cracked. No track days, no racing. Just street use, and the wheel cracked.

what are the model numbers/etc. do I look for bbs. my current track/AX fakes are 7 and 8 x 15's... I like the lower gear ratio it gives me but I'm open to ideas... thx

FYI - I was looking at my fake fuchs today...they are Maxwheel brand and the shape seems a bit different than pictured above...there are probably a number of brands..
my sizes are 7's and 8's x 15... |

My rear nines are replicas with JIL cast on them. I believe that stands for Japanese Institute of Labor. I'm hoping that means they were manufactured to some higher standard than run of the mill fakes.

I'd be very interested in looking into fake 9x16's just for the street. Who sells them?? Terry, where did you get yours?
Thanks, jt -84 targa |

I had one web break all the way through on an aftermarket Cup 2 design wheel on the track. I did not hit anything including curbing. The wheel was on the rear which takes more load. I changed to real Porsche wheels and have never had any wheel failures. I did ricochet off a concrete wall at 80+ mph, it bent but did not crack.
