A quart(2 pints) every 500 miles is a lot of oil consumption. But i'm sure I read that somewhere. I'll check my books tonight and see if i can find more info.

I'm certainly planning on doing any work myself, BUT I did see the leak tests results with my own eyes!
The car's going on a rolling road next week to get some idea of BHP, and I'll do those compression tests and let you know of the results. |
Oh, and I've ordered the Bruce Anderson book - should have it tomorrow...

The 'gold standard' for oil usage has been the same in all of the spec books I have seen, 1.5-2.0 liters per 1000 km, i.e. 2.12 qts in a little over 600 miles, is OK, any more is rebuild time, but remember those numbers are USAGE ... and do NOT include any leakage!!!
