A quart(2 pints) every 500 miles is a lot of oil consumption. But i'm sure I read that somewhere. I'll check my books tonight and see if i can find more info.

I'm certainly planning on doing any work myself, BUT I did see the leak tests results with my own eyes!

The car's going on a rolling road next week to get some idea of BHP, and I'll do those compression tests and let you know of the results.

Oh, and I've ordered the Bruce Anderson book - should have it tomorrow...

The 'gold standard' for oil usage has been the same in all of the spec books I have seen, 1.5-2.0 liters per 1000 km, i.e. 2.12 qts in a little over 600 miles, is OK, any more is rebuild time, but remember those numbers are USAGE ... and do NOT include any leakage!!!
