are wires 30, 87, 87a 12 gauge on an OEM relay socket?
Doing the headlight upgrade and I'm hell-bent on using the OEM relay sockets for some reason. From my thread reading, I need 12 gauge wires to and from 30 and 87...does the OEM sockets use 12 gauge wire? At $51 a pop, I wanted to make sure before buying them. TIA.

If you want to be a mental case (and save a few $$$), you can rewire the stockies. See here:

The short length [couple of inches] shouldn't be an issue. Just solder the 12 gauge to it. There isn't 12 gauge wire inside the relay. Its the 6 or 8 foot run of 16 gauge that makes for melted wires.

Relays have a current rating based upon the size of the wiring and contacts. Exceed the ratings at your own risk.
Be smart, either find out the current rating of the stock relays or get relays that are rated for the current. You might find the relays are of sufficient capacity to run one light at a time. Then you are looking at 4 relays. 2 for low and 2 for high. Hey, it's only money, green paper with old men on the front.

This is precisely why I used six (yes, 6) commonly available 30a relays to isolate each filament, which reduces the amperage through each relay. It also makes troubleshooting easier, as well as eliminating full lights out during a failure. Search my username and Headlight Relay for threads.
