home grown roll bar
I was just looking at some other posts about roll bars and thought it was about time I posted some of the one I had made this spring. It is a six point mount so technically it is a cage. Anything more than four mounts. But it is still a roll bar in my mind. In looking at the rear mount bolts they are so small that it didn't look like just those points would hold. I designed the bar so that there are two braces that go to the rear seat pivot point and then the "X" brace goes to the rear seat belt mount points. The front bar follows the "B" pillar and attaches to the front seat belt mount. It is maybe a little harder to get in the car as you must line up 6 holes instead of 4 but I can still take it out and put it in by myself in under 30 min. Contruction is 1.5" .120 DOM. Strange senerio I had a welding shop lined up to build the bar but they were busy so I did all the fitting and when I was ready for a weld I would track down the welder and then move on to the next piece. The bar wound up costing well under $400.00
To make a pattern for the bar I used 1.25" pvc and large radius PVC electrical conduit 90s. I was able to construct a very nice pattern that got lost someplace. Worked well to determine where to start bends and how high to place cross bar. I have no way to tell if it is as strong as the other bars and I hope I never have to find out. I think it would hold fine in a roll over. In a multiple flip would any bolt-in roll bar hold. Holds the extinguisher well though. Here are the pictures they are a little hard to see as the interior is black and so is the bar. The height is about .25" under the top of the cab.

Looks very nicely done. The welds that are visible look good.
