panel welding
Has anyone replaced a 3.2 door slam panel (which is wrapped behind the rear wing lip)? How are they welded together? I cannot see any spot weld marks (even with the paint buffed off); are they brazed?

I dont know what a "rear wind lip is" so I dont know what exactly your talking about-
Theres the hinge post ( where the door hinges attach to the tub) Then theres the lock post ( where the door latches closed) Heres a pic of of my latch post I replaced ( I think thats what your talking about)

Many thanks - stupid me, I forgot to check my typing!! I was talking about the rear WING and indeed your photo shows what look like drilled out spot weld holes, which answers my question.

No problem...
If you are talking about the rear quarter panel ( what you refer to as" rear wing" are you from the UK? ) where it meets the lock post, when I was working on my car you dont really see the spot weld because the spot welds are on the inside of the wheel well. You migh spot a few spot welds ( even after removing the paint) on the outside but I really had to climb into the wheel well ( very dirty job) to see where all the spot welds are .... AND THERE A LOT OF THEM

Drill them out from the backside if at all possible. This saves the lip to some extent. You will weld some from the front side, buy you can dress those with a grinder.
