seperating engine and trans

I dropped the engine and trans out of my 79 SC. Can anyone tell me what tools I need to back off the spacer rivets. The manuals claim the the rivets are threaded ,there don't appear to be any threads inside of them. Is there another method I can use to seperate the two.

Hello:

I just did this on my 79 SC. If you are
making reference to the haynes manual, don't.
There are no spacers/rivets to deal with, even in replacing the clutch/and pressure plate on the 79. I also was confused when looking at the haynes manual. You need to make sure the clutch release fork dis-engages the release bearing [throw out bearing], remove the 4 mounting nuts, and seperate the engine/trans. Make sure you support the trans as you slide them apart.

good luck...
