swb front height question
Went over to a friends to have a look at his newly acquired 67'. While jacking-up the back of the car, I noticed it seemed to lean to the right. Putting the jack stands under the spring plate ends confirmed it. The passenger-side front, was also sitting lower than the drivers side. After lowering the car, I measured the height. Fronts were the same, and the rears were the same. I pushed down on the pass. side front, it seemed fine. Felt the same as the drivers side. Will re-indexing the torsion bar on the pass.-side front stiffen it, or just raise that side? Thanks for any replies!

It will just raise that side.

Mine was like that except front was level and rear was a bit off on one side. It takes about an hour to index them to get them right. Remember to make the angle on the one side the same as the angle on the other side with both wheels off the rear. Also make sure that the car is level front side to side when measuring.

Problem isn't with the rear, it's the front. The car sits fine when it's on the ground. When you lift the rear, the pass-side front, lowers. It's almost like having a much smaller tb on that side. Pulled the tb out to make sure it wasn't broken. Is it worth re-indexing the front tb's so that both adjusters are exactly the same?

No its not, you can adjust height externally.

Don't you have to put the weight of the driver on the seat to get this adjustment correct? Would this have affected your initial observation of lean?

I'm not sure Mike, but I don't think so. The car appears to sit well, on its own. Heights are even, side to side. It's only when you lift it from the back, that the pass.-side front drops down lower than the drivers-side.
