When you pull your engine and/or trans, service the CVs!!!!!
When I had pulled my trans an engine six months ago for the second gear
repair, the outboard boot(s) looked fine...the inboard CVs had plenty of grease. I should have pulled the splines off and looked inside. It was dry...very dry but there no evidence of thrown grease anywhere....odd that. I slapped in a known good set of CVs and axles....no more clunk.... I guess I'll service this one....see if the balls and cage are savable and then pull the other side....since I have an LSD I would assume the other may be in the same condition or close to it. |
