944 to 911 seat swap
What do you all think of swapping a set of 944 seats into a 911?
They look pretty much the same to me. I guess they would require a bit of rail modification at most, right? It was just a thought that occured to me while I was looking at my tatered seats. I can't afford to reupholster them right now and I figure I can find a set of 944 seats a bit cheaper than seats that came from a 911. What do you all think? ------------------ Leland Pate ___79 SC Targa |

944 seats in your 911?
Mason jar getting too low from the tensioner ordeal eh?.. By the way...how do you get good aim when snipering from a mountain bike? 30 hail marys for even thinking (out loud) about adulterating the originality. Mr. P's probably tossing in his grave! Magnesium |

They should fit fine across the cars, actually, I think most seats can be swapped from late 924, all 944/928/968s to most 911s, including 964, and I think at least some 993s.
I have two pairs of 944 seats, I couldn't find any part # though. Good luck, Ahmet ------------------ It's all the driver... |

The real sniper wouldn't be that obvious. When he strikes there is no proof except a body.

What's the story Vroom? I'm waiting patiently for you to contribute something useful here soon- like everyone else has managed. There's always someone I guess....
That's a good idea tho Leeland. I was wondering the same, especially how 914 seats look suspiciously like the much coveted 'sport seat' option that nowdays sell for stupid bucks. (I wonder if '64 bug seats would fit.... ![]() ------------------ '72 911 TE |

Well, I'm not the man to ask, but the owner of this excellent site is:
http://staging.huntinter.com/johncar/appearance.htm Those are 944 seats according to the text (they look good). They appear to be electric. Cam ------------------ ---------------- Cameron Baudinet 1975 911S |

- I have a set of black electric seats from a 944 that I purchased at a swap meet in my 83SC. The stitching design is slightly different from the old SC seats, but they installed and work perfectly. Unless one is a knowledgable purest, you would never know they are not stock seats. - Of course now that I am getting more serious with DEs, I wish I would have purchased a set of recliner-Recaros instead. I need the holes for the shoulder and sub belts. And of course, the electrics are heavier. - Chuck [This message has been edited by patalive (edited 07-28-2000).] |

Palitave,
Did you have to modify the rails or brackets to fit them into your SC or do they fit without modification? Thanks, ------------------ Leland Pate ___79 SC Targa |

I'd call it pretty minor trolling. Let's count our blessings.
We all know the best way to deal with trolls is to ignore them. Or, if you must flame, make it short and move on. On the whole, I find the quality of this board is phenomenal -- worthy of the Porsche marque.... |

- The rails came with the seats and bolted right up to the existing welded brackets. No mods were required. - Chuck |
