by the way here are a couple other shots of the SChttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1161655951.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1161655984.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1161656043.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1161656135.jpg

Your car looks great! Of the late model wheels, those are my favorite. I had a black 3.2L car, and at one point considered getting those wheels and painting/coating them gloss black, but I stayed with Fuchs.

Yes, I'd say you've got a couple of pieces of a belt which isn't a problem. I can't say however what the rubber cap thingy is. Is there a chance of getting better pics of that part or maybe a more detailed description?

You might state your question more clearly to generate replies...No sure what your asking?

masraum 10-23-2006 06:29 PM

I believe before the question was, what are these things and are they important. He said the two parts look like part of a shredded v-belt. I agree. I believe he said that the other part is a rubber cap of some sort. I dunno, maybe the hood shocks when bad and the PO used a rod with a rubber foot to hold the hood up and that foot is from the rod. It's hard to tell because the pics are blurry.

I didn't want to guess, but at least you get a free bump to the top.

Could it be the protection cap in #13 below?

Funny thing is, I've never actually seen one of these on a car. I think they must fall off all the time. :D

No, protection cap.

The protection cap is just plastic. That has a metal insert with thread(s?) to screw on to something. I'll have a look tomorrow . . .

I started to take one of my rubber stops off, but it is falling apart. I promptly tightened it again.

Here is a pic of the plastic cap from the pic that Doug scanned.

Not the stops either. They have a built in thread. The rear are rubber & the front are hard plastic but they both have threads. See the fuzzy image below.

Nice car btw . . .

It is definitely not the fan nut cap.

......radiator height adjustment eccentric bolt access hole plug....
:p

FinallyGotOne 10-24-2006 07:27 AM

well what seems odd about that little rbber thing is that it has what appears to e a washer seated in the big end. Alos the hole is at the narrow end of it and it wides out a bit toward the end.

Man I gotta bit sideways coming out of my neighborhood! it straightened really easy, reminded me of all those laps at Malibu Go Karts speedway :) Good thing I have many laps under my belt... :)

Also this ride goes to 6,000 rpm's really quick in 1st gear. is that pretty normal. Taking a bit of getting used to and all so far. Thanks MASRAUM for the compliment

goldgunner 10-24-2006 08:25 AM

What size / diameter are the threads inside that cap?

Where was it found?

Looks to me like it may have been a protective cap that came on an A/C compressor, which would have been then removed and hooked up to either the high or low hose line fitting connectors.

FinallyGotOne 10-24-2006 08:31 AM

GOLDGUNNER there are no threads in it. I found it sitting inside my engine bay. I was looking down inside toward the right of center at a area that appeared to have a bit of oil leaking. I was going to try and clean up the oil but noticed that and the broken v-belt parts. It is not the same shape as my lid bumpers FYI. I tried searching parts through Pelican but could not locate it. Quite the mystery...As far as anything with A/C, Man my A/C works better than my Land cruisers!!

goldgunner 10-24-2006 08:33 AM

it could still be a protective cap that should have been discarded - even without threads. If your a/c compressor looks like a replacement, that would still be my bet.

hbkramer 10-24-2006 08:35 AM

Is that the cap on the right side of the air box ??
