Hand throttle
Could some one explain in detail how the hand throttle actualy accomplishes it's function. Warren in the spare parts catalogue does it show how it interfaces with the throttle?

Bruce,
There is a cylindrical, slotted bushing, called a nipple, that is clamped to the throttle cable by a set screw. A slotted lever or link attached to the throttle lever, pulls on the link, and thus the throttle cable, indirectly, through the nipple clamped to the cable. ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |

Two questions: 1. When operating the hand throttle does the pedal move? 2. Does the hand throttle move with pedal operation?

Bruce,
The "fork" that pushes on the bushing is behind it in the movement of the rod when you give gas, so the fork can push the throttle rod, but the bushing can't pull the hand gas' fork. If you lift the handbrake assembly and get a peek, it all becomes much clearer... George |

No, the hand throttle does not move with the foot pedal, since the 'link' can only pull on the nipple clamped on the cable, but is not attached, hence can't be pulled by the cable. Yes, the foot pedal does 'fall' a bit when the hand throttle is raised.

Thanks, I sort of understand now. You set a false stop with the hand throttle correct?
