Leaking windshield seal

When it rains really hard, which I try to avoid, my windshield lets in water at the right side lower corner. I'm tempted to lift the seal away from the glass on the outside and seal it with silicon. Before I do this and get into an irretrievable mess I thought I'd check if anyone has any better suggestions.

Replace the seal. The seal is cheap. $35-45.

I did this on my '85.

Be VERY VERY careful. Some P-mechs said the windshields get brittle and break easily when they get over 2 years old.

Email me if you want more info.

My windshield leaked too, and that's the real reason why it's getting replaced. I tried spooging Glazing and Bedding Compound under it, but this does not really fix the leak. Nhromyak is right. Replace the seal. I also agree that the glass is probably brittle.

I kinda thought that would be the answer I'd get. I've had the car about 6 months and the PO said the windshield had been replaced in the last year or two so the seal looks like it is in good shape. What would cause it to leak - just poor installation?

Can I install the windshield myself?

I just found the "silicon" thread which I think answers most of my questions.
