bosch coil resistance
Warren, the Bosch cdi coil secondary resistance value on my coil is 2.546 k ohms and on the identical coil on my son's car same Bosch part # is considerably less 1.735 k ohms? Could this be a coil ready to go? I'm still trying to solve occasional stall problem. thanks regards jer

Jer,
Normally, I would expect a coil winding that is going/gone bad to show LOWER resistance because part of the winding has shorted out ... maybe your son's coil is the flakey one? Is that the Bosch 0.221.121.001 coil? The part number is stamped on the base of my coil. My OEM CDI coil measures 0.65 Ohms in the primary side, and 676 Ohms on the secondary side. You will notice that the turns ratio on my coil is approximately 1:100 ... I have read that the appropriate ratio is in the 100 to 200 range for CD ignitions, and my coil seems to bear that out. You may want to check the primary coil resistances on both coils, then compare the turns ratios to see if there is any discrepancy between them. I would be interested in your coil's part number, and the primary resistance, too ... always collecting data for future reference! ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |
