Early 911 oil-cooler scoop?
Is it possible to use a 1973 911's horn grill to vent air to a wheel-well mounted oil cooler? I realize it would involve cutting some sheet metal -- but can it be done?
Should it be done? ------------------ --------------- Jack Olsen 1973 911 T sunroof coupe http://members.rennlist.com/jackolsen/Jalopy.html |

I have seen early 911 race cars that use the horn grills for brake cooling, they punch holes thru the battery boxes and on to the rotors. Might as well use the hole for someting good IMHO all they do is cause up lift anyway and the air horns don't use them for sound exit.

That raises a curious question -- why the heck do they call them "horn grilles" when on the 911 the horns are about 1ft. below the grilles??? Very odd.

On the real early 911 and even the 901 were the electric horns not in back of or near these little openings. I have seen racers plug the holes with thin plastic to stop the lift.
