Child seat in a 924/911

Hi gyes
I need some help. I have just bought a 76 924 to be used as a dayly driver. I need to be able to fit a seat for my 3 month old daughter. My question: I have heard about a special prosche made seat for children, does anny of you have anny eksperience with that seat, and can you still get it ? (Aprox price?) I will mostly need the seat for the 924 but it would be nice to have a seat that would fit in both cars. The 924 curently have rear seatbelts (2 point) are they ok or do i have to retrofit a 3 or 4 point seatbelt, to get a safe mounting of the seat?
Have anny of you been using other marks/types of seats in these cars?

Anny help and advice would be apriciated
Thanks
Peter Jensen

We have an '83 SC and use a seat made by "Next Step" for our 2 1/2 yr old. We used a standard rear facing seat before that when he was younger. We have "rigged" a bracket in the rear to fasten the seat to besides the usual seat belt. Fortunate for us that my wife is very tolerant and not extremely tall.

We were never able to find a seat to fit in the 944 we used to have. If the rear seats on the 924 are similar (and I'm guessing they would be), it will probably be very difficult to find a seat that fits.

I think the Posche child seat is primarily for the newer models, although I could be wrong. We asked about them a couple of years ago but never found anybody that knew anything about them.

This topic is covered on the Rennlist 911 FAQ. The news is not encouraging at all! I can't imagine not being able to take our baby for rides in the Porsche. You'd think someone would have figured out a way to make this work!

Here's a link to the Rennlist FAQ: http://www.rennlist.org/FAQ/sect3.html#q3.4

I know Porsche makes car seats. You don't even want to know what they cost! They are no different then any other quality brand out there. By the way, I would consider the the 911 to have "built in" child seats in the back. My 3 kids love the way they fit in those. Has any adult actually tried to ride in these other then Mini Me?

My poor wife rode over an hour back from a PCA rally once in the back seat of the 911. We had a friend run the rally in her Dodge Durango. My wife was her navigator and another friend was my navigator. Well, the Durango owner had to leave early which put three of us in my car. My wife is 5' 10", but my navigator is 6' 2" so there wasn't an easy answer! Of course it was my car so I wasn't going back there.

Peter

I note you live in Denmark so the seat I use may not be available.

I have a Britax (UK made) seat which I only today transferred from my 924S to my newly acquired 911 3.2 Carrera.

It has fixed straps which are attached using the lap belt points for the rear seats.

I hope this helps.
