Bob,
I'm not too sure what you're talking about, but there's one movie that I bought just for the Porsche 911 Turbo: "Bad Boys" with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. There is "Risky Business" with Tom Cruise and a 928. ------------------ Jeff 1976 911S |

Oldies, but ... make your own mind up:
'Le Mans' Steve McQueen drives his own, personal 911S ... and some 12-cylinder REAL 917s at 200 mph+ ... the book documenting the 'making of Le Mans' by Michael Keyser, 'A French Kiss with Death' was supposed to have been released by now, but the local bookstore says it isn't available yet! 'Good Guys Wear Black' with Chuck Norris driving a black '73 RSR on the street ... before the anti-govt. overtones take over big time ... ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |

Speaking of the movie "No Man's Land", does anyone know of a source for a new copy of this video? Its currently out of print, and I have yet to locate a source for a new copy. Granted,it's a pretty lousy movie, but the 911 content is worth the purchase.

Warren, two things. First, thanks for the tip regarding the electrical gremlins,Im trying those now. Second, the Le mans book, A French Kiss with death is not only out,but I read all 463 pages of it in three days, very good reading. I got the book from a place in Burbank Ca. called Autobooks\Aerobooks all they sale are books,Videos and magazines that are Auto\Aero related. I go there probably twice a week on my way home from work and just look around, they actully had copies on the shelf. their number is 818 845-0707 and they take mail-orders. I got the lemans video there as well.
M.Marshall Oh yea, wont give away to much info but according to the book, Porsche gave the studio Porsches to use while in france shooting, one of those Steve was using and it was that one that they filmed at the beginning of the movie. Another 911 wasnt so lucky, it got totaled by the director of the movie when he decided to take his girlfriend for a thrill ride around the circuit. I guess he lifted ![]() [This message has been edited by MMARSH (edited 04-21-2000).] [This message has been edited by MMARSH (edited 04-22-2000).] |

Thanks for the news about 'French Kiss' ... will have to try again.
Here is the URL at Keyser's co: http://autosportsltd.com/fkwd.html Speaking of movies again ... 'King of the Hill' had Harry Hamlin in the lead role as a guy working at a small Porsche shop who got interested in hill climbs ... set in the LA area, so I kind of got the idea it was out on Mullholland ... his 'mentor' was Dennis Hopper at his crazed, burnt-out best ... ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa [This message has been edited by Early_S_Man (edited 04-22-2000).] |

Saw an early '70s movie called "The Destructors" the other night with Michael Caine. Entertaining plot with Caine driving an Alfa who at one point gets into a chase with a girl driving a yellow Targa. I enjoyed it.
Does Michael Caine get the girl . . . well you'll have to see the movie! Allan |

I saw 'Bullit' again last weekend, and had forgotten about the girlfriend's 356C Cabrio McQueen drove after the 'big' chase!
Too bad he never made a sequel to that one with some nice footage down California 1 to Big Sur! ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |

I'd recommend "Gone in 60 seconds", and "Commando". I loved "Bad Boys", but does anyone agree with me when I say that there is no way in hell that the 911 Turbo would have caught up with that genuine 427 Cobra? The Cobra had like a 2 minute head start. How long was that damn runway? I'm guessing 25 miles or so! I guess we saw the same rereun of Bullit. It set the standard for car chases. I like the use of the rear view mirror shots, especially the one when the bad guy finally sees McQueens Mustang behind him - great stuff.
As for a 911 seeing off a Cobra - I don't think so on acceleration but what about top end. Wouldn't the Porsche have a higher top speed? |

I haven't watched No Man's Land in a while. I remember enjoying it immensely -- beautiful cars, beautiful woman, touch of recklessness. I'll have to rent it again just for the Porsches.
I also remember tons of beautiful Porsches getting ripped off in 30 seconds or less. I hope it's not THAT easy. |

Watch "Witness" with Harrison Ford... the VW he drives has the same engine as a 914 (4) I had 20 years ago... LOL... sounds just the same!

I saw sneek preview of the replacements last weekend (a football comedy out Aug 11) that had a "911" in it for a just a few seconds. Try not to "cringe" as one of the cast "kills" it. You will probably can't help laugh at the scene as I did.
There is also a stinker video called "Dream Machine" with a 911 cab in which there is a "body up under the hood" for a good part on the film. It stunk but for some, it maybe worth the "Yea-Right" as if a body could fit up front factor. s |

Ok, maybe I'm just going looney, but I remember seeing a movie maybe 15-20 years ago about some loser-turned-superhero who got around in some fancy car and had a pair of home-made wings that didn't work too well. What? Oh, yeah--the gang of bad guys drove a small fleet of black (dark blue?) 911's. I think the movie was named "The Condor" or "Albatross" or something along those lines. Anyone else out there have better memory than me? I checked out www.imdb.com but the details are so hazy that I didn't come up with anything...

I got my copy of No Man's Land from Ebay for about $5. Also, Bullit is out on DVD for those who are interested.
I saw a movie a couple of years ago that was one of those late night USA type flics that I had never heard of, probably made in the late 70s. It was about some kid who put a big diesel bus engine into some small car to win a race. The guy he had to beat was a young Anthony Edwards in an early 911 targa. Anybody know the title? Mark |
