Power seats in a SC
Has anyone ever put a set of 4 way power seats in an older car that had manual seats?
What would be required to wire them up for operation? Is it difficult?... Imput?... Comments?... Snipers?... ![]() ------------------ Leland Pate ___79 SC Targa |

- The seat discussion we had previously - - those are 944 powered seats that I had installed in my 83SC. They work perfectly! I understand from my mechanic that the wiring was in place - but if it weren't, all it takes, I believe, is a power line for seat movement. I also have the heaters (which I don't use) but I don't know their wiring requirements. ![]() - Chuck |

Chuck, did your mechanic mention why the wiring was already in place? Were power seats an option in 1983? As another '83 SC owner, I find this idea intriguing!

I think power seats became an option after the advent of the 3.2s. But if all you have to do is run a power wire to the seat I wouldn't think it would be that hard. I guess you'd just have to figure out which fuse panel the factory ran 'em off of and fabricate something.
Thanks guys, although I'm far away from worring about installing better seats, I'm constantly trying to come up with new ideas. ------------------ Leland Pate ___79 SC Targa |

- I thought he said the wiring was in place, under the carpets, but what Leland says makes sense. At the time, I was at a swap meet, saw the seats and went over to my mechanic, who was also selling, and asked him if the seats could be installed. Could have easily got me facts screwed up, but I really thought he said the wiring was in place. In any event, it's easy to run a new power lead, as Leland describes. - Chuck |
