newbie here! have a few questions
I've been browsing the forms for a bit know and i bought an 86 targa in aug. the ppi checked out pretty good, the mechanic said it's all the normal things associated with a 20 year old porsche. my questions are these i really want to do a 930 wide body conversion so i need to know what parts i need and where to get them. also would like some advice on winter storage (i don't have a garage) all replies will be greatly appreciated.

One of the decisions you have to make is if you are going to use fiberglass or metal parts. Metal parts are much easier fitment but obviously fiberglass will be lighter so it also depends on the use of the car. Street or track.
Also if you are doing the work yourself or having it done may be a consideration. It can get pricey having it done. You may almost be better off to find someone elses completed project in that regard. One more thing to add. Post pics of your car. It is a must.:D |
metal definitely i do realize the cost of such a project but of course it's not going to be right away but just trying to get informed. thanks

Well, I don't know beans about 930 widebody conversions, so I'll defer to the experts out there on welding flares. There are many threads on this very issue plus winter storage, experiment with the search function in the upper right hand corner of the opening page. Welcome to the forum!

I don't know of any companies that sell the metal parts you need.
Maybe some of the other members do. One easy way is to go to the used parts forum on this board. There are lots of guys on this board that probably have what you need. Post a WTB- want to buy thread for the parts you are looking for. You may even find some close to you. Good luck and welcome to the board. |
thanks for the replies i've searched the forums and didn't have much luck on the topic but yes i am going to do flares. pics will be up soon.

any more replies will be greatly appreciated

Where are the pictures? I don't see the pictures! Are they here? Am I missing something?
What gives? No photos? :D  :( |
Welcome!
Bumping you until the wide body experts check in. Are you planning on storing your baby outside all winter? There are plenty of old threads on winterizing, but I believe most member house their car indoors. Outside there are issues with covering, some better - some worse. Hope you find an acceptable solution. |
Welcome aboard. Winter storage: Keep the fuel tank full, and use a trickle charger for the battery. On wide-body conversions, I don't know squat. Enjoy!:D
