cam regrinds and 964 cams in a 3.2
Hello folks,
Well my 3.2 motor is in pieces and in the process of cleaning / inspecting everything I noticed some pitting on the nose of the right cam (#4 exhaust lobe). Are cams generally serviceable items that most machine shops can regrind or not? Also, I've heard a lot about 964 cams as a performance mod. Can anyone comment on how these would work in a 3.2. I am running a hot wire mass air flow metering system and have heard these can have more aggressive cams as they are not too bothered by pulsations in the inlet tract at low rpm's (like K-jet plate / Motronic 'barn door' type air metering). If 964 cams would be worth trying to get hold of, can anyone give me some pointers as to where I can get my hands on some. The ideal scenario would be if a shop could grind a hotter profile on my cores. Thanks and sorry for all the questions. |

Your best bet would be to contact Web Cam to see what kind of arrangements you can work out for the least cost.

I just rebuilt a 3.2 and installed 964 grind cams from webcam. I am generally pleased. I took the car to a drivers ed at Road Atlana and I enjoyed the cars performance. The motor is a little stronger than other Carreras and I did not push it all out. ( my brother was in the other Carrera) My car has 89 3.2l with 964 grind cams, B&B exhaust and a K&N filter. I'd like to add the Mass air to mine, just need time and money. I'd be interested in how your project turns out
