Ready to cruise!
Got the swepco in, engine oil change, torsion bar bushings, A/C, map, C.D's, snacks, gas, luggage and girlfriend! I'm ready for my vacation to Florida (I leave Thursday morning). I'm going to stay in Morehead, N.C. for a few days to see some relatives then down to Clearwater, Fla. The car seems ready, all is well, now wish me luck!

Let me get this straight. You're going from Canada to Florida with luggage and a girlfriend in a 911 with updated (which I take to mean stiffer) torsion bars?
If the two of you make it past the Mason-Dixon line, then you should marry her at the next chapel you see. If she puts up with the confines of a cross-country drive in a race-prepped 911, she's definitely a keeper. :-) ------------------ --------------- Jack Olsen 1973 911 T sunroof coupe http://members.rennlist.com/jackolsen/Jalopy.html [This message has been edited by JackOlsen (edited 08-08-2000).] |

You're a better man than I...
My wife has probably spent approx 6 minutes in "our" 911, total, and "we've" had it for over 10 years now! FWIW, she actually kinda digs the 914, and has even driven it a few days (solo!) while I needed to use her SUV to haul crap around. Have a great trip! Chris C. |

Have a good trip Mike and be safe.
Try an resist the temptation on stopping at "South of the Boarder" and buying one of their tacky bumper stickers and putting it on.....no, you wouldn't do that... ![]() good luck s |

So what's wrong with a "I Visited the Alligator Farm" bumper sticker firmly attached to the rear deck, under the 911 badge? You guys got no couth! Wonder if I can buy one on the Internet?

My wife likes to ride in our '70-911 - says "it's neat the way it goes around corners" when I'm not even trying. But she refuses to drive it - doesn't feel comfortable with the manual shift. What she'd really like is a '65 Mustang convertible!

Mike,
If you get in trouble on the road, go to any local library and you can get internet access this way. Get to us on the website and if in the area we can give you a hand or at least advise on the road. Sorry, do not live in the general route you are driving or would give you a "waystation" to stop at for a day, but if you need help on the road (car only, wives are not covered in the tech manual and I really do not understand them) stay in touch! Drive safe (within reason) and let us know how it went! JoeA |

Something I didnt see you inclusde in your list there Mike.......
...RADAR DETECTOR.. The doughnut boys on I95 from southern Va to about halfway into NC will be shooting their radars for those over 75. Although you'll be seeing Semi-trucks, and other people flying in the 80's, your 911 is something they'd love to pull over. Fun within reason..skip in Va |

Hey, I drove from Cincinnati to Chicago and back in two days. That's a 340 mile trek. Did the first half with the top off the car, got a nice sunburn.
With the roof on and the windows closed, the 911 makes a fine touring car - on smooth roads. Mine's not race-prepped by any means other than what the factory did. It's a great car. ------------------ Mark Szabo 1986 911 Targa 3.2 |

If you're gonna be near the TN/NC border it is your duty as a 911 owner to "Joust with the Dragon" at Deal's Gap. 318 curves in 11 miles. If your lady is still with you at the other end marry her!
