Please help find vin, I want to buy this 1967

Hello,

I found an old 911 for sale but the body was modified to the 930.
The owner is an older gentleman, said his car is 1967
but we can't find the vin anywhere on car.

Where can I find the raised stamp vin on the 1967?

In the pic 1 is the 1965.
(photo from "Original Porsche 911 by Peter Morgan", page 21)
Please notice, the aluminum vin plate is at the top of fuel tank,
not on the left side of the latch support.

Pic 2-5 are some evidence, this car could be the 1967.
Sorry for bad photos.

Any picture from the 1967's owner would be really helpful.

Thank you.

My 67's VIN plate is in the same place as the VIN on the 65 in your first picture.

Hi V12man,
Where is your raised stamp vin? Is it right under the aluminum plate?
Thanks
Burint

First picture, top cicle above fuel tank, is where you'll find the vin. #. That's where mine is on the ol' 66'.

+1 for my '67 and my '68. VIN is stamped in a rectangular area just below where the aluminum VIN plate is in your pic #1. Here is a pic from a '65 911.

The position of the aluminum VIN plate was moved in '67 production at some point when the front striker panel for the hood was revised. The vertical rib in your lower circle was deleted from the newer part and the VIN plate was riveted on there on my cars. The newer panel has a hole on the right side for the windshield washer bottle fill cap, too.

You can also find a stamped VIN under the kneepad panel to the left of your pic #2. It is stamped roughly under where the radio usually is, and corresponded to the VIN in the early cars. Later (post '69), it became a Production # and not the VIN. Here is a pic of that stamping on my '68.

The guages are pre-1968, if that helps. I'd check the kneepad area as mentioned.

Hi guys,
Many thanks for all your information.
The under kneepad number is always a question.
It is very interesting to know that the pre 69 cars have
both numbers in the trunk and under kneepad coresponded.
I will make another visit to the owner and ask to remove the kneepad.
In the photo, the original engine was replaced and the
2.4, 911s was installed.
Wish me luck.

Good Luck!

Is the car in Thailand? I hope it hasn't got any bad rot issues or fungi in it.

Hi Randy,
The car is in Thailand and stored in garage for the past 17 years.
Must be a major wprk on engine and pump.
Any advise on where in the US to get the pump rebuilt.
Burint.

you may already know that Burint- the same place where Longlom sent his pump!- Pacific Fuel Injection, 153 Utah, Suite B, South San Francisco, California 94080 phone # 650 588 8880 Attention Gus
We can take care of shipping it to him if you send us the throttle bodies at the same time- i am sure they need to be gone through as well. Don't forget to send the injectors as well. Gus will clean and test them too.

By the way, nice find ; a right hand drive 911 !
