Door stay issue
Thought I'd seen a post some time ago regarding loosening up the tension in door stays. I'm installing the reinforcement kit and want to ease up on the pressure as well. Any help?

I did this repair several years ago. Here is a link to a thread that addresses this.
Door stay help Just an added note, the repair has held very well. I did it about 6 years ago.

Thanks, Jerry. I will use the Dremel.

Me too. I put in the door-stay reinforcement kit, and a new door stay, six months ago, and ever since, it has clacked so loud--two times on a full door opening--that 911 people keep telling me "You need to install the reinforcing kit." I already have, but obviously the door stay itself--probably made in Mexico--is way too stiffly "humped."
Thanks!

While I was at it I soaked the door stay in mineral spirits, then blew it out with air, then soaked it in LRC. I'm not sure if it helped but I couldn't help but notice a lot of grime coming out of the piece with the plastic/rubber resistors.
