81SC cam timing?

I was at a local porsche shop, and he was telling me that he could 'retime' my cam, and adjust the fuel pressure, and make a few adjustments, without any parts replacement, and that would show a 'noticeable' increase in horsepower. Has anyone heard of such a procedure, and how well it works??

By advancing the cam timming you increase bottom end by retarding the cam timming you give the motor top end (changing the torque curve). Porsche has changed the timming of the motors using the SC cams both up and down and settled in the middle. I like the middle or advanced, rarely do I get the chance to wind it out so I like bottom end torgue. IMHO

Thanks for your reply. Does that mean that when you 'recurve' you have a gain in one area, and lose another. So there is really no real gain in HP, but just in a different RPM range?

HP is a function of torque at a specific RPM (without getting into the math). The higher the torque output is on the RPM band the more HP produced - at the cost of low end grunt. As RLJ stated above, most street cars will see greater benefit using the torque down low, it all depends on your driving style.
