Price check: 1983 911 SC

My father's friend is looking to sell his 1983 911 SC and he asked me to feel out a price to ask for it.

Some specifics:
1983 911SC coupe. It is basically showroom condition. By far the nicest 911 I have seen at that age. ~120,000 documented miles, accompanied by a binder of reciepts from a reputable CA porsche shop. No accidents, paint (adriatic blue if i remember correctly) is near perfect (a rock chip or two) and the interior is in as good of condition as the exterior.
Carrera chain tensioner upgrade, new shifter bushings, and a few other small projects from Wayne's book.

My semi-educated guess would be high teen's, maybe $20k if the right buyer see's it...am I close?

Sorry no pics yet, there will be this weekend when its posted.

Ive been shopping lately..depending on the example..$10500 seems to be a low..and average was $12400 (high mileage) and $14000 for well dosumented, less than 100k mile cars.

There may be one person out there who might pay 20K, the rest of us would pay 15K or less.

85 RoW Carrera Cab, 55k for $7k. Car sat for the past 8 years but just had a Major Service at the dealer. I put a new top, fixed a rust spot and then put new rotors, pads, lines and Bilsteins all around.

Uh oh... we are going to have to end up calling this the "who got the best deal thread"! :D

$20k is high for that car as comparable prices can get you a Carrera with a G50. Like the other guys said, mid teens would be reasonable.

It is basically showroom condition.

Showroom condition is a pretty tall order. A garage queen that has been driven 120K miles, no matter how nice, isn't going to be in showroom condition unless it has had a five figure restoration.

Just to add another perpective: I'm buying an '81 SC for 17k and it had a complete engine rebuild 10,000 miles ago, plus a rebuilt transmission. Paint is "acceptable" (looks good unless you get real close and the see the rock chips, but that's gonna happen to any car that gets driven).

Like I said, there may be one out there thinking this is a 20K car.

I was gonna say $15,000 when I opened the thread, and I now see that's alos the majority opinion. No 120K car is going to be in showroom condition unless somebody drove it while standing up.
