Look at this new dash from Sema
|
That is cool.
It is also the future of automotive dashboards (in my opinion). I think we will have digital (LCD, LED, or plasma) displays that users can customize with their own digital or analog dials and gauges. Wow. That would be cool! |
If they want to sell a lot of those, they better get a faster server! I gave up trying to download the tech sheet.
I've been looking for a DAQ card/system for a long time, but the ones I've seen that are affordable has limited input capability. I would love one that can monitor and log oil pressure, oil temperature, intake air temperature and pressure (manifold/boost), engine speed, ignition timing, vehicle speed and acceleration, 2-axis g force, exhaust gas temperature and pressure, transmission gear, AFR, etc.... A good product would be a low cost basic platform with expandable analog and digital input via cards or stacking of modules. |
Here here!!

There's got to be an electrical engineer out there who realizes the potential of such a product (low cost expandable base module) capable of logging data. I can think of plenty of 12 and 24 volt systems in various industry that can utilize such a product. With different software versions, the product could be used for all sorts of fun. I'm gonna have to force one of the kids into EE school...like it or not! :)
