Metric fasteners
Anybody know a good mail-order/catalog source for metric fasteners?
My immediate need is for some new seat rail and seat hinge bolts for a '72 911. The Stoddard 356 catalog has sets of bolts that look similar but they don't give the sizes. Their 911 catalog doesn't carry quite as extensive a selection. I guess the 911's just are old enough yet to create enough demand. ------------------ Greg 72 911S |

Greg,
Any major bolt or fastener supply house should be familiar with Metric & Multistandard Components Corp. and should allow you to take a look through their impressive catalog. They don't claim to be mail order but their offices in Dallas TX, Hawthorne NY, and Lyons IL will sell direct, as I have been buying that way for over 20 years! ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |

You might also try a local Porsche Independent, if you need only one or two bolts or nuts, or whatever. When I moved to Ohio, and needed to replace my front license plate, I had saved the bracket, but couldn't find the inserts to which the screws attach to the front valence. One day, as Auto Assets, I just happened to ask, and there they were, in Gary's tool box, just waiting for me. No charge, no fuss, no bother. The local dealer also had them, but only the plastic inserts, and I remembered that I had the real metal ones, that were stock 18 years ago. So was happy to find them at Gary's. Never short change (figuratively speaking) your friendly local independent auto repair guys.......Andras |

The Tweeks Porsche catalog lists some of the hardware you're looking for.

You might try a company named Fastenall. We have them here in Dallas but they are nationwide. Just about everything you need in fasteners and if they do not have them, will order them.

What a weird coincidence that you posted about this...I'm looking for the same bolts, which (on my 70 at least) are M6x15 cad plated 10.9 grade allen/hex. I have the sport seats, so the brackets and rails mount with the aforementioned hex bolts and the seats mount to the brackets with (I think) M8x12 grade 8.8 cap head bolts.
I ordered 50 of them from the local dealer weeks and weeks ago with nary a phone call. I figured Stoddard would have them but haven't called yet -- have you? They do carry and/or special order stuff not in the catalog. I figured I'd just end up settling on acceptable high grade bolts locally available to me, although the ones I've found are all black vs. cad. There is place called Metric Specialties in Burbank CA that I was referred to, but I haven't tried them yet -- too buried w/ work (actually I'm across the country at the moment.) Good luck, Chris C. 70 911E |

You can also try Wurth at www.wurthusa.com
They carry a large assortment of the yellow metric fasteners and you can order by mail. |

Thanks for the Wurth link! I love their products and didn't ever think to look for their site.
