GAS TANK FILTER

Hello again,is there a gas tank filter or sock in the tank before the pick-up for the front fuel pump? thanks for any help...jer I have an 88 930.

If it is like every other air-cooled VW & Porsche gas tank I have seen in the past 40 years, yes! There is usually a fine brass screen, or sock, retained by a big aluminum nut, with the steel fuel line coming out the center of the retaining nut, sealed by copper rings.
