Aluminum deck lid
What years were aluminum deck lids standard on S models, and what years were they an option?
Thanks, John |

1969 to 1971 911S only. Never an option on earlier or later cars, unless you went through the parts department. Neat and very expensive these days, but very easy to dent with the inadvertent push to close. Hope this helps, Allan

These were also put on some, but not all, E model cars of the same years.
They are cool parts but are fragile as Allan says.

Offically, all the 911E's were equipt with the steel lid. Possible production shortages of the steel lid may have caused them use the alloy lid, or they were changed over after the car left the factory. Fryardds, nice looking deck lid, don't see many without waves on the lower edge. Stripper works better for these alloy lids, less distortion from sanding, as we both pointed out, these things are light as a feather and very susceptable to the slightest of pressure. Hell, I think it actually warps by ambient temperatures
