I just pulled full power leather seats out of my 87 Targa. They were exactly 60 lbs. each.

I just bought these.... http://www.hunsakersports.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=194

After sitting in more seats than I can remember I found these to be the most comfortable. Paid $350 for the pair shipped and they only weigh 20-25lbs.

how did they mount? did you have to make brakets, or did they just bolt right in?

For a car that is not going to be tracked, but maybe used for an occasional DE where a 5 or 6 point harness is not necessary, I really like the Factory manual Sport Seats. I bought a pair from a 1979 Turbo and installed them in my 87 Carrera. They replaced the full power/full leather 60# seats I had in there. What a difference. Much, much lighter, excellent feel and support, and they maintain the factory look too.

I have been on a couple 5+ hour road trips with them and would not trade them for anything.

The gap in between existing rails is something like 16 inches. The gap between the new seat rails was 14 inches. So I had to mount a steel plate to the rails of the new seats and then mount that plate to the exisiting rails. It was annoying but pretty easy.
