Spring plate angle

To calculate spring plate angle do I use the door sill to get zero then calculate the angle off that? This makes sense but I can't find a direct reference in searching earlier posts.

Yes, the angle of the spring plate is dependent on a level surface, so checking the sill will yield a correction factor for an unlevel floor.
