What Hit Me? How? Sunday Bloody Sunday...

Fresh off the camera, I got hit and runned, no witnesses naturally.

http://www.darthracing.com/911_hit/

The car is driveable (or I did 25 miles) after AAA helped be roll the fender (no flatbeds avail) and check I had no wobbles or major crabbing.

Insurance and estimates are all pending this week, anyone have rough estimates/bets on the damage?

Any recommendations for bodyshops in the East Bay of SF California who I can trust to do a good job to fix this thing?

Damage to this area has been a nightmare thats come true, I'm still in shock.

Thanks, WAAAA!
-Todd

Todd,
really sorry to see that happen to such a sweet car. Glad you're okay though- I hope you can get her fixed up without too much hassle.

Cheers,

Paul.

Looks like a 4x4 may have backed into you.

Looks like a high bumper backed into your car.
School/church bus, truck, or what Bryan said.

Or a church mom in a Hummer...talking on the phone...while reprimanding the kids...and holding a Starbucks Latte.

Sorry, man. That sux!

Ouch. That kills me (and looks way too much like my beloved '87 - down the the PCA badge...).

Can't help you with the bodyshop recommendation, but a good one will make it nearly brand new. You might ask some of the high-end dealers around who they recommend.

Why the multiple creases? Simply backing into the fender would result in different damage, IMO. That looks like it was pummeled from different angles.

Pry bar/fender rolling to get the fender off the tire.

I hope prying didn't make it worse.

Hard to make that one worse. That will take a new quarter panel and nicely done will come out very well. I'd rather have damage like that than the rear cross member whacked. Or front end. That is if I had to have damage. That really sux. Makes you want to have surveillance on your car 24/7.

What is weird is that the paint is not broken at all?

I am terribly sorry to see the damge, I probably would not be able to keep my composure.

yeah, the paint was only bothered by the pry bar, and a bit of bubbling where the tire rubbed (bumps) on the way home.

I guess maybe you can't always assume it was a car, either.

In my mind I see two pimply brace-face 13-year old kids with a football. One kid goes long, one kid throws. One kid makes an amazing catch across the parking lot, and then slams his hip into your p-car. "Ohhhhhh dude. Let's get out of here."

was there any other color of paint or scratches or anything?

Anyway, good luck.

There is no way a person is putting that size dent in the quarter panel from running across a parking lot. Undoubtedly something packed into it.

Sorry for the misfortune.

Look at this from the bright side. It's an early warning from God that you choose the wrong church

Classic Autobody in Berkeley does great work, I had my front pan replaced there, and they work on a bunch of vintage racers as well. Not cheap $ work, good work. They are just off Gilman at 4th or 5th. Chris, one of the owners, has a beautiful 912 targa that they painted and did the body on.
