The reds have a diode in them which does not permit reverse current flow. Can't remember if it's on the control circuit of the power circuit though...

The red relays have a noise suppression diode across the coil to minimize noise spikes on the power bus that would normally happen when the relay releases. Terminal #85 MUST be grounded -- not the + 12 Volt power signal, which is Porsche policy for all standard black relays, so ... thankfully, there isn't a fire hazard when a red relay is substituted in a socket for a black relay!

The red relays have the diode which is called a "flyback" diode. It surves to prevent the inductive kick from a coil getting back into the 12VDC system.
