Engine Rebuild/Hop-up

I have a 1983 911SC with 113,000 miles on the original engine. It runs strong and, to the best of my knowledge, it does not have any noticeable problems other than oil leaks in numerous areas, inclusive of the main gasket between the right and left cases. It has been driven only 400 miles in the last 10 years. I have been told that this is the reason for the many oil leaks and that the engine is due for a gasket set.

I am thinking that being the engine will need to be pulled, and pretty much broke down, that this may be an opportune time to to go through it with a hop-up kit so that it will develop more horsepower. I need to learn more about what is available(works best), as far as upgrades, and hook-up with a reputable shop that comes highly recommended.

I live in Tacoma, Washington, USA, which is just South of Seattle. I understand that there is a good shop in Portland, Oregon, but I would like to find something closer. Any recommendations?

Call John Walker in Seattle. Look in the yellow pages under John Walker's Workshop. He is also a regular poster here on Pelican.

There is no seal between the right and left halves of the crankcase. It is glued together with Loctite 574. Hopefully it is actually leaking from somewhere above and you just see it at the mating point. Either way you would have to drop the engine, but a crankcase leak would need a complete rebuild. Hope not.

I 2nd the JW recommendation. He is a very nice guy and does all the work himself. No sub-mechanics in his shop.:)
