Mystery Fitting - Engine Bay
Just completed my first repair – the replacement of the alternator in my car, and noticed an odd fitting which currently appears to serve no purpose. Just forward of the oil filter, hidden from view, is a metal pipe that appears to be part of the bodywork and I suppose leads out into the wheel arch, next to the oil tank. At a guess it looks like the sort of fitting a hose would be attached to. Can someone enlighten me? Regards, ------------------ Paul 911T'69 |

Paul,
If the early oil tanks are similar to the later ones, I believe that 'pipe' with the nut attached is simply a brace for the underside of the dry sump tank ... I had to loosen the one on my tank in order to remove it for cleaning a few years back! ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |
